Artglass Lifetime Acrylic brings plastic glazing up to museum-grade standards. Built on the purest acrylic substrate with a hard protective top-coating, it is shatter-resistant, anti-static, scratch-resistant — and, unlike ordinary anti-reflective acrylics that turn hazy over time, it stays crystal clear.

Optically it performs like the best of the glass range: reflection around 1%, light transmission ~98%, and more than 99% UV block that meets professional art conservation requirements. Physically it does what glass cannot: it is lightweight, safe to transport and available in formats large enough for monumental works.

It has also passed the improved Oddy test with a perfect score of 0 — confirming it emits no harmful gases and is safe for enclosing valuable artworks.

Cutting & handling

  1. Masked with protective film on both sides — leave it on for as long as possible.
  2. Cut from either side with multi-material cutters; use power saws for 4.5 and 6 mm thicknesses.
  3. Remove static after peeling the film with an anti-static brush, gun or cloth (once is enough).
  4. Store horizontally, largest sheets at the bottom — or vertically at no more than a 10° lean.
  5. We recommend 4.5 mm for frames larger than 2 × 1 m and 6 mm for 2 × 2 m and above.

Complete illustrated guidelines, including cleaning and storage, are on the downloads page. Clean with ammonia-free glass cleaner and a soft microfiber cloth.

Questions

About Lifetime Acrylic

Why choose acrylic instead of glass?

Weight and safety. Acrylic is significantly lighter than glass — decisive for large formats and travelling exhibitions — and it will not shatter. Lifetime Acrylic adds what ordinary acrylic lacks: museum-grade optics, a scratch-resistant hard coating, anti-static behaviour and 99% UV protection.

Will it get cloudy like other anti-reflective acrylics?

No. While many anti-reflective acrylics turn hazy over time, Lifetime Acrylic is engineered to stay clear for the long term — that is the “Lifetime” in the name.

Which thickness should I use?

Use 3 mm for standard formats, 4.5 mm for frames larger than 2 × 1 m, and 6 mm for 2 × 2 m and above. Larger frames need thicker sheets because acrylic can bow slightly with environmental changes.

Is it safe to enclose valuable art with acrylic?

Yes. Lifetime Acrylic passed the improved Oddy test — the museum-sector standard for materials used near artworks — with a perfect score of 0, confirming it emits no gases that could harm enclosed works.
